Non-Formal Environmental Education

At the district level, community communication and non-formal environmental education activities complement the mass media mix. For example, mass and civil society organizations help facilitate village learning initiatives engaging in local theatre, radio listening groups, extra-curricular school activities etc. In addition, two environmental vehicles regularly have been touring villages and towns in Khammouane, Huaphane and Sayaboury Province, and Vientiane Capital since late 2013. Additional Environmental Tours strated in Bolikhamxay Province in 2015.

The bus and the truck show environmental films on a big cinema screen and display other non-formal environmental education tools such as theatre, travelling exhibitions, posters, games and exercises. Complementary to the Environmental Tours, mass and civil society organizations help facilitate village learning initiatives engaging in local theatre, radio listening groups, extra-curricular school activities etc. An overview of recent and planned activities can be found in the ProCEEd project flyer. Information on past and future Environmental Tours can be retrieved from the Tour Plan.

ProCEEd supports this broad scope of measures through capacity development in all relevant fields of and communication and adult education skills in close cooperation with MoNRE and other strategic partners in the mass media, government and non-government organizations.
