Building a New Team for ProCEED in 2015-2017

As a result of the project's extension until 2017, three additional staff members joined the GIZ team of ProCEEd in May, respectively July 2015. During a teambuilding workshop in Vang Vieng, Vientiane Province from 17-19 Aug, 2015 the newcomers and the projects 'old hands' had a chance to learn to know each other in a relaxed and pleasant learning environment.

A new GIZ senior advisor and two additional development advisors for posts in Khammouane and Houaphan joined the team. Cristina Georgii has years of experience in environmental education and joined ProCEEd in May. Uwe Diehl, who has a background in forestry and environmental education, and Jonas Ewert with his competence in biology and experience in exhibition management support the team since the end of July.

Project director Michael Trockenbrodt provided a closer look at the project's principles and activities during its first phase since 2012. He was assisted by Manfred Oepen, the project’s lead consultant, who introduced basic features of ProCEEd's environmental education communication strategy (EECS).

Facilitated by moderator Susanne Willner, different presentations, creative brainstorming sessions and group work helped the newly established team internalize past achievements and shortcomings and start collecting ideas for future milestones, activities and interfaces for shared responsibilities and the division of tasks.

For a day, three DEQP staff members joined their German colleagues and integrated their own ideas and contributions to the common goals of ProCEED. The mix of different methods allowed participants to get a better understanding of all team members' strengths and on the roles and functions they will play in the upcoming two years. The workshop brought the potentials of the new ProCEED team to light. Most importantly, it created a new team spirit and confidence regarding the challenges ahead.
